As an off-shoot from the first Safe Fishing Alliance meeting held on 26 March 2019, a Safe Guarding Against and Addressing Fishers’ Exploitation at Sea (SAFE Seas) Inter-Agency Meeting was held today, 16 April 2019, at the Legend Hotel, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

The SAFE Seas Project, being implemented by Plan International Philippines with funding from the United States Department of Labor, works with the Philippine government to strengthen regulations and policies to address labor exploitation, forced labor and trafficking in persons on fishing vessels. It is a four-year project being implemented in Palawan, Sarangani and General Santos City.
